# Phishing Awareness

### Protecting Yourself from Phishing: What Modular Customers Need to Know

Phishing is a type of scam where someone pretends to be a trusted company to trick you into clicking a link, sharing login details, or handing over payment information. Shopify store owners are common targets, and scammers sometimes impersonate theme developers like us to make their messages look believable.

Here's how to tell the difference between a real message from Presidio and a fake one.

#### How We Contact You

**We only use one email address for Modular:**

[**modular@presidiocreative.com**](mailto:modular@presidiocreative.com)

Keep these rules in mind:

* **We don't send unsolicited emails.** We never reach out to clients first. If you get an email from "Presidio" or "Modular" that you didn't start, treat it as suspicious.
* **We always use our company domain.** Every email from us ends in **@presidiocreative.com**. We will never contact you from a Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or any other address, even if the sender name says "Presidio" or "Modular Support."
* **Check the full address, not just the name.** Scammers can set any display name they like. Click or tap the sender's name to see the real email address behind it.

#### Common Signs of a Phishing Email

* Urgent language like "Your store will be suspended" or "Action required within 24 hours"
* Requests for your Shopify login, staff account access, or payment details
* Links that don't match the company they claim to be from (hover over a link to preview where it goes)
* Unexpected attachments, especially .zip, .html, or .exe files
* Spelling mistakes, odd formatting, or generic greetings like "Dear Customer"

If something feels off, don't click anything. When in doubt, [contact our support team](https://modular.presidiocreative.com/support/contacting-support) to check.

#### How to Report a Phishing Email

Reporting phishing helps your email provider block similar messages for you and others.

**Gmail**

1. Open the suspicious email.
2. Click the three dots (⋮) next to the Reply button.
3. Select **Report phishing**.

**Outlook**

1. Select the suspicious email.
2. Click **Report** in the toolbar (or right-click the message).
3. Choose **Report phishing**.

**Apple Mail / iCloud**\
Forward the email to [**reportphishing@apple.com**](mailto:reportphishing@apple.com), then delete it.

**Any email provider**\
You can also forward phishing emails to the Anti-Phishing Working Group at [**reportphishing@apwg.org**](mailto:reportphishing@apwg.org), which shares reports with security organizations worldwide.

**Let us know too**\
If someone is pretending to be Presidio or Modular, please [contact our support team](https://modular.presidiocreative.com/support/contacting-support) so we can warn other customers.

#### If You Already Clicked

Don't panic. Change your Shopify password right away, turn on two-step authentication in your Shopify account settings, and review your staff accounts and installed apps for anything you don't recognize.

Stay safe, and remember: if it's really us, it's always from **@presidiocreative.com**, and only in reply to a message you sent first.
